August 4, 2000 — Well it may not have been a date, but Joan and I have a great time on the boat trip. We dined and danced. In fact, we danced so much that in that one evening, I broke my lifetime record for dances with one female!

August 2000 — I come home from work one day and Joan asks if I can get away for a week later that month. Seems that at the suggestion of her sister, Joyce, the family had conspired to get me to join them on a vacation in Seattle and Whistler, BC. In fact, they already made the airline reservations for me! Click on the picture to go to the story of our vacation, but don't forget to come back!

Our Whistler Vacation

October 22, 2000

at the Church Gala  Joan decides that maybe she should see what I look like dressed up. We attend Joan's church's 10th Anniversary celebration. Very nice evening and we got to dance again. In fact, after almost everyone else had left, the band continued playing and Joan and I had the dance floor to ourselves. Is this really me? (As my niece had said, "What have you done with my real uncle?") He DOES dance!!!!!

November 4, 2000

Seeing me in a suit wasn't enough for Joan. She now invites me to a Black-tie affair. I must have made a great impression on her - Joan invites me to another one the next week. I had only worn a tux once before. I feel great dressing up and going out with Joan.

December 31, 2000 — We spend New Year's Eve on Long Island with Joel and Dorothy (my brother and sister-in-law). The end of a wonderful year.

January 1, 2001 — Who knows what the New Year will bring?

February 2001 - Although we have now spent almost every weekend and every Wednesday evening together since last July (missing only the times when Joan was in Hawaii and Whistler without me), we have decided that we haven't been seeing enough of each other so (prompted by the questions of five-year old Sarah), we decide to move in together.

July 3, 2001- On the first anniversary of "Item Day," we go to the same Japanese restaurant we had gone to last year. This year we do get to see the Stamford Fireworks. We are both still very happy that the 2000 fireworks were cancelled last year!
