I have not traveled to too many places in the United States, but without a doubt my favorite is

ALASKA!

Following are some pictures from my first trip there in 1989. We started out in Sitka. The first evening we visited the Sitka National Historical Park where we saw many totems.

Rather than taking a commercial cruise ship, we traveled on The Sea Comber - a small boat with a crew of three. There were only 10 passengers (relatives and friends from my Audubon chapter).
The scenery was spectacular.

Although we did not cover the distances that the large cruise ships did,
one of the advantages of traveling like this was, that we could and did use the
zodiacs to make stops in unusual places.

One of these was an abandoned gold mine.
