Mystery Grass at Brigantine

Seen at Forsythe (Brigantine) NWR in June 2004. It may be very common to you folks in the NE, but I don't recall ever having seen it before. I was fascinated with it and would like to find out the name. I like the way the fine green grass grows out of the seed head. Please e-mail Dotty if you know what it is.
