After leaving South Beach, Joan and I had lunch at the Lobster Claw in
Orleans. Clam chowder and fried lobster for Joan; fried haddock for me. Very
good.
Then we went off to look for more birds. First stop, the Nausett Marsh Trail. We saw lots of little fish in the shallow waters of the marsh. Birding was rather slow here but the scenery was nice. We paused for a while to watch a Great Blue Heron hunting in the marsh grasses. Joan found us a Prairie Warbler.
Then we went off to the Province Lands Visitor Center. My head trauma was catching up with me and I didn't feel like looking for birds too much so we just admired the scenery. We then drove back to Provincetown where we had dinner at Carrerio’s Tip for Tops’n Restaurant which features Portuguese style seafood. Joan and I both had a fish dinner cooked in a tomato sauce. It was quite good but the portions were so large, neither of us could finish the meal. |
After dinner we went to Herring Cove Beach to watch the sun set. |

On the drive back to the campground we noticed Mars shining brightly in the sky—it was only a few days past its closest encounter with Earth in thousands of years. Once back at the campground we took a walk to look at the stars and saw more of them than we had in years.
