Passion Flower
Passiflora coccinea

Passion Flower, Mirador Valle de General, Costa Rica by Richard L. Becker

The two dark spots within the corona (the upright fringe of red-violet filaments) are small black bees in the genus Trigona. Trigonids are stingless bees that are not usually effective pollinators of most flowers (but they are of some). They mostly scavenge pollen or nectar without coming into contact with the reproductive parts of the flower.
