Thursday, August 24 Joan and I took another morning nature walk. We started out on the same path as yesterday and saw more of the Common Yellowthroats. But this time we went farther. We heard an Osprey calling but couldn't locate it. We found one tree with a number of warblers in it. It took some time but we were finally able to see the birds. There were plenty of the Audubon's subspecies of Cheri's Warbler, a Yellow Warbler, an Orange-crowned Warbler, and MacGillivray's Warbler. I thought this was only my second sighting of this bird (saw it last year in Staten Island!) but found out I had seen it in Alaska. We admired the wildflowers and finally saw the Osprey and located its nest that appeared to be precariously positioned high in a tree. |
After returning to the lodge, some went rollerblading but I played it safe and took photos and relaxed. |
